The FIG-Young Surveyors Network (YSN) Lagos, is a State branch of the Young Surveyors Network of Nigeria (YSN Nigeria). YSN Nigeria is a sub-group of the Nigeria Institution Of Surveyors (NIS) and a strong member of the Young Surveyor Africa Network (YSN Africa). The NIS is a member association of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) and YSN Africa is Regional Network under the FIG-YSN International.
YSN Lagos is guided by the principles and standards of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) and has the responsibility as stated by the FIG YSN International, to promote State, National, and International opportunities and experience among young minds, provide a forum for sharing and exchange of ideas, knowledge, skills and experience. In addition, YSN Lagos seeks to create innovation that will help in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

FIG is the premier international organization representing the interests of surveyors worldwide. It is a federation of the national member associations and covers the whole range of professional fields within the global surveying, geomatics, geodesy and geo-information community. It provides an international forum for discussion and development aiming to promote professional practice and standards.
The Nigerian Institution of Surveyors is arguably one of the oldest organised professional bodies in Nigeria. NIS started in 1934 and its foundations were laid in Lagos State as the “Licensed Surveyors Association” under the able leadership of the late Nationalist, Herbert Macaulay. In 1960, the name was changed to the “Land Surveyors Association of Nigeria” with the state Late Surv. C.T. Olumide elected as its first president. Late C.T. Olumide is honoured every year by the Institution with a memorial Lecture.
